Overweighting of public information in financial markets: A lesson from the lab

چکیده
We study the information aggregation process in a laboratory financial market where traders have access to costly private and free public imperfect information. The disclosure provokes (i) crowding-out effect on traders’ demand, (ii) overreaction signal, (iii) deterioration price informativeness. show that reduction informativeness is direct consequence of overweighting when aggregated prices. Moreover, we provide experimental evidence for theoretical conjecture subsequent disclosures are directly related second- (or higher) order beliefs. From an economic policy perspective, support deciding communication strategy, regulatory institutions can smooth by properly setting level transparency their disclosures.
